Active Northumberland is starting introductory swimming lessons for babies and young children which are the perfect way to gently introduce your child to swimming and begin a lifelong love of water. 
 

The Discovery Ducklings classes are suitable for children aged from 12 weeks to 3 years old. 
 

The emphasis of the classes will be on having fun with lots of play, songs and games to ensure your little one loves the time you spend together in the pool. 
 

Mark Seymour, head of swimming development at Active Northumberland said:  

“Most babies love being in the water, so we try to encourage parents to start their children off with lessons as early as possible. 
 

“The Discover Duckling classes aim to make the pool a safe and fun place for your child, while developing their basic skills and their confidence in water before they start school.” 
 

The adult and child classes will be running at Blyth Sports Centre, Concordia in Cramlington, Ashington Leisure Centre, Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham, Morpeth Riverside and Prudhoe Waterworld. They will be introduced to other centres around the county in the near future. 
 

The classes cost £6.50 per lesson and can be booked by ringing 01670 620200 or by calling in at a participating Active Northumberland Centre.
